Old Fort Road

This was Kitwe’s first ‘Supported Living’ project for First Choice Housing Association and was completed in August 2009.  The bungalow provides accommodation for people with learning disabilities and is leased by Shropshire Council and managed by First Choice Housing Association.

The bungalow provides independent living accommodation for three tenants.  The large footplate of just under 2,000 sq ft provides four bedrooms, lounge, dining room, kitchen, utility room, large bathroom and shower room.  The bedrooms/bathrooms have a passenger hoist system to assist in moving tenants from their bed to the bath.

The project was funded by the Development Trust and was formally opened by HRH the Princes Royal, the Fund’s Patron,  in October 2010.

Kitwe worked closely with Shropshire’s Adult Learning Disabilities team, the Development Trust and First Choice Housing Association to provide this exciting facility within an eighteen week build period.
